Accessibility Statement
1. Our Commitment
Fests.io is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for all users, including people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply relevant accessibility standards.
We believe everyone should be able to discover and enjoy music festivals, regardless of how they access the web.
2. Standards & Conformance
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, as referenced by the European standard EN 301 549 and the EU Web Accessibility Directive (2016/2102).
We are working towards full Level AA conformance. Some areas of the site may not yet fully meet this standard — see Known Limitations below.
3. Measures We Take
To support accessibility, Fests.io takes the following measures:
- Semantic HTML5 markup to convey structure and meaning.
- ARIA landmarks and labels on interactive components (dialogs, navigation, search).
- Sufficient colour contrast ratios between text and backgrounds (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text).
- Keyboard-navigable interface — all interactive elements are reachable via keyboard.
- Visible focus indicators on interactive elements.
- Descriptive
alttext on informational images; decorative images marked with emptyalt="". - Responsive design that supports text resizing up to 200% without loss of content.
- No content that flashes more than three times per second (seizure safety).
lang="en"attribute on the root HTML element so screen readers use the correct language.- All form inputs have associated
<label>elements.
4. Known Limitations
Despite our efforts, some content may not yet fully conform to WCAG 2.1 AA. Known issues include:
- Third-party ticket iframes: Ticket purchase pages loaded in the embedded popup window are provided by external vendors and may not fully meet accessibility standards. We have no direct control over their content.
- Some image-heavy cards: Festival card images from external sources may occasionally lack sufficient alternative text. We are working to ensure all images have meaningful descriptions.
- Complex navigation on mobile: The category carousel may present challenges for some screen readers. We are investigating improvements.
We are actively working to resolve these issues. If you encounter a specific problem, please let us know.
5. Assistive Technology
Fests.io has been tested with and aims to support the following assistive technologies:
- Screen readers: NVDA (Windows), VoiceOver (macOS / iOS), TalkBack (Android)
- Keyboard-only navigation (no mouse required)
- Browser zoom up to 200%
- High contrast mode (Windows)
- Reduced motion preference (
prefers-reduced-motionmedia query is respected)
