ASTRIX

The Architect of Modern Psytrance

Astrix (Avi Shmailov) stands among the most influential and respected titans in the psychedelic trance universe. A pioneer of the modern full-on and progressive psytrance movement, he has shaped dancefloors worldwide for over two decades with razor-sharp production and hypnotic melodic depth.

Drawn to music at an early age, Shmailov trained in classical piano before shifting into electronic synthesis. After early creative projects and collaborations including Alien Project, he forged a sound that would soon reshape the global festival circuit.

Milestone Albums and Iconic Anthems

In 2002, Astrix unleashed his landmark debut album, Eye to Eye, setting a new benchmark for progressive psytrance and finding international acclaim. Two years later, the critically acclaimed Artcore arrived, solidifying his stature with sophisticated melodies, driving basslines, and genre-defining craftsmanship. Over the years, timeless releases such as Chaos, Poison, and Closer to Heaven (featuring Michele Adamson) alongside modern masterpieces like Deep Jungle Walk have cemented his legacy.

Dominating the Global Festival Circuit

From prime stages at Tomorrowland, A State of Trance, and Boom Festival in Portugal to Ozora in Hungary and Universo Paralello in Brazil, Astrix commands the biggest dancefloors on Earth. His high-octane sets bridge cosmic atmosphere and relentless rhythm, drawing tens of thousands of revellers across Europe, the Americas, Asia, and beyond.

In 2018, Astrix united with fellow trance visionary Ace Ventura to establish the powerhouse project Alpha Portal, exploring deep, driving psychedelic dimensions that continue to headline major festivals worldwide.
